(Occupational Health and Safety Administration) released its new safety guidelines for large and small businesses, updating their current regulations. The new guidelines are specifically detailing the area of Office Killing Sprees.
OSHA has set 341 safety guidelines to employees to follow in these sprees. This was created to make it a safer endeavor for all parties. Some of the new standards are as follows from OFFICE KILLING SPREE POCKET BOOK 29 CFR 1960.4 Docket No. OKSPB-0027
1. RG-105.6 Each Employer must provide Light Duty Kevlar Portable walls for each cubicle.
2. RG-115.45 Supervisor must take the basic combat medic course which expands paramedic level 1 training with pharmacology, nursing procedures, casualty evacuation and other skills for independent operation in the field.
3. RG-223.3 A course will be offered quarterly for each department offering techniques in Disgruntled Communication. Offering the three classes for employees. Course 1: Protecting my co-workers. Entitled “Calm down, your going to get us all killed”, Course 2 Seniority Status Entitled “Not me, get the new guy”, Course 3 Reviewing Assets Entitled “I have a wife and 3 kids. Get Fred, he is single. Please, he never really liked you”.
4. RG-240.8 In all official communication the employee will henceforth be referred to as “the gunman,” his home as “a compound” or “fortress,” and his weapons, even if only 1 gun, as “his arsenal.”
5. RG-449.2 When talking to the media (if you’re fortunate enough to survive) the more distraught you appear and refer to the attacker as a “normal guy” the more time your company will allow you leave, light days and paid ‘psychological rehabilitation’.
OSHA has already begun reinforcing these new regulations. Kenneth Hommel of Huron South Dakota, was arrested last April for killing seven and injuring 3 with a TEC-DC9 at Bilford Publishing. Along with the life sentence handed down with him by a federal judge, OSHA has served Hommel with a violation notice for not washing his hands and for leaving a liquid spill uncleaned for more than 4 hours.
